First AFF class kicks off
Last night, Aussie Footy Fit (AFF) officially launched in Melbourne with its first-ever class held by Bayside Outdoor Fitness in Beaumaris, led by licensee Chad Davis. This new fitness program brings an education-focused, fun, and inclusive workout inspired by Aussie Rules Footy to people of all fitness levels and backgrounds. It’s non-contact, requires no footy experience, and allows participants to train at their own pace—making it accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
Participants had a fantastic time, with glowing feedback that captured the energy and spirit of the evening. One participant shared, “I didn’t realise footy training was such fun” Another added, “Had a great time; see you next week” For many, the hour flew by, with several people commenting on how quickly the class went by. A stand out among the group was a family of three—a lifelong footy fan, his wife, and their daughter—who joined to try out Aussie Footy Fit. They left hooked and are already planning to return next week.
Chad Davis, a former St. Kilda player from the 2000s and a well-known name in the Bayside fitness community, is the licensee bringing AFF to life at Bayside Outdoor Fitness. Chad led the group through skill-building exercises, including kicking and marking techniques. He even demonstrated his footy skills to guide participants through the workout.
The mixed group included some who had previously played footy—albeit years ago—and some female players who were new to the sport. Despite different experience levels, everyone embraced the AFF spirit and jumped right in. One standout moment was when Cam, one of the participants, made an impressive mark, capturing the energy and enthusiasm that defined the night. To commemorate this milestone, the group gathered for a photo as the “First-Ever Aussie Footy Fitters!”
